Dome House is around 20 minutes’ drive from junctions 36 or 37 of the M6, making it one of the most accessible luxury retreats in the Lake District from both the north and the south. The house is a 10-minute walk from the centre of Bowness-on-Windermere and the lake itself.

FROM THE NORTH
(Scotland, Carlisle, Penrith)
Leave the M6 at junction 37 and follow the A684 to Kendal, then the A591 south before joining the A5074 at Windermere towards Bowness-on-Windermere. At the junction in Bowness-on-Windermere, turn left onto the A592. Then turn left onto Kendal Road A5074, and left again onto Brantfell Road. Follow Brantfell Road up the hill and turn right at the top onto a private road. Dome House is at the end on the left.
FROM THE SOUTH
(Manchester, Birmingham, London)
Leave the M6 at junction 36, take the A590 and follow signs for Kendal and the Lakes, continuing onto the A591 before taking the A5074 into Bowness-on-Windermere. Turn sharp right onto Brantfell Road and right again at the top onto a private road. The Dome House is at the end on the left.
Free parking
Dome House has plenty free on-site parking for all resident guests. Given the difficulty of parking in Bowness during peak season, we recommend you leave the car on our private driveway and amble downhill to Bowness in less than 10 minutes.

By train
Windermere Train Station is approximately 1.5 miles from Dome House. From the station, you can reach Bowness town on bus number 6 or 599, then walk (uphill) to Dome House in 10-15 minutes. A taxi or Uber takes 10 minutes door-to-door.
Direct services to Windermere Train Station operate from Manchester Piccadilly, with a journey time of around one hour forty-five minutes. From London Euston, change at Oxenholme for the branch line to Windermere. The fastest journey from London takes around three hours.
